My truck listed above is making a rattling sound occasionally. It happens under acceleration from 2-3k RPMs and goes away if I lift off the throttle. I flushed the crank case, ran intake valve/combustion chamber cleaner through the intake to remove carbon, ran injector cleaner through a couple times, replaced the spark plugs, and started using premium fuel. Nothing has caused the problem to go away.

Thanks for the video, that does not sound like pinging to me. It sounds more like the exhaust hanger is broken and it is contacting the frame when the engine moves slightly when under power, I would use a flashlight and get under the truck to see if this is the case. Thanks for the video it helps.

That’s great news! I will check the exhaust. I did notice when I power break my engine twists in the engine bay more than it’s supposed to. I’ve had multiple mechanics tell me this but every time I take it in to get the motor mounts checked they say the motor mounts look fine. Could this extra play in the motor cause the sound, and is there something other than the motor mounts that can cause this extra play?

Yes, the engine mounts can cause this problem. If the engine moves too much then the exhaust will contact the frame, I can add that sometimes the engine mounts look okay but are not once torque is applied.
