While driving it seemed the motor bogged down when I pressed on the gas. If I pressed barely on the gas pedal it seemed to continue but if I give it more it would bog down. Eventually the truck slowed down and then the motor quit. I tried starting it, it would turn over but would not fire. I undid the fuel line after the fuel filter before it gets to the motor and turned the ignition to on and fuel flowed fine through the filter. That's as far as I have gotten.

Hello,

Okay, an engine needs three things to fire. Fuel, spark, and compression. Let's start with the latter and check for compression. I have included a couple of links down below for you to go to.

Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex

So I have not completed all the compression test for all the valves but I have done two, one read 80 and the other read 160. According to what you sent me read the 80 is bad. Being an old truck the motor would have to be rebuilt, is that correct?

Hello again,

Unfortunately yes. I can send you a test to see if it is the rings, or a head gasket and valves, although I'm suspecting bearing failure. Please get back to us and let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

I want to thank you for your help. Even though this is not what I wanted to be wrong with the truck, I did save money by doing a test myself with your help and being able to decide what to do with the truck. Thanks again
