I am looking at purchasing a 2000 international 4700 ambulance to convert into an RV. It was previously owned by a police unit. I am wondering what kind of maintenance costs I can expect for a vehicle like this. Any additional resources would be super helpful!

Good afternoon,

Going up to this level is a new world.

You will have a lot more maintenance than a car or light duty truck.

I would plan on at least $2,000.00 a year for this unit to keep the maintenance up to date.

Have you already purchased it?

No I haven’t! Looking at several options in this range. Also considering a 2005 International 4300 (DT-466/Maxxforce L6, 7.6L) with less mileage. I believe I can manage $2,000.00 a year, but I don’t know any good mechanics in my area either. It make a bit nervous I may be getting in over my head.

I found one in Clarksville. It is an International truck dealer but you could use just about anyone. Freight liner, Cummings, Mack dealers will also accept your truck for repairs.
