Intermittently car not starting. The ignition switch feels locked up and will not release to turn key. After pressing brake and trying to push shifter knob harder in park , the key will release and crank but just makes a single click noise each attempt. Sometimes it starts up after a few tries and other times trying to jump the battery still will not make it start and then no click noise at all. Battery fully charged and cable connectors are corrosion free. Have all lights on dash and headlights with no dimming issues.

Good morning my name is Roy and I will assist.

It sounds like the transmission shift cable needs to be adjusted for the no noise part of your concern. the other part may be different. the starter may have a bad spot and that is the click noise.

I would have both checked to see if they are the issue. The key is what concerns me. usually when you have that issue it is from low voltage from the battery.
