Intermittent stalling on acceleration

Sometimes my 2004 Honda element will stumble when the accelerator is pushed down. It will completely stall if the accelerator is pushed wide open and will only run again (while driving) when the accelerator is released. Then speed can gradually increase to about 70 miles an hour; after that the engine begins to stumble again. The problem seems to increase as the engine warms up though there have been occasions where it will begin that erratic behavior when its cold

Hi:

Has the check engine light turned on and stayed on, or flashed? If so, the first thing I need you to do is have the computer scanned for diagnostic trouble codes. If you don't have a scan tool, most parts stores will do it for you free of charge.

As far as the description, it sounds like it could be either a fuel-related or an engine vacuum leak-related issue. Once we get a code or codes, I'll know better which way to direct you.
