Vehicle will not crank with the key, but will crank when boosted?

Why is this happening? Battery has been replaced (twice). But the problem still exists. It acts like there is a live circuit still on somewhere.

This is common when the starter motor is going out. here is a generic guide to help you change it out with instructions below to show you how on your car. The booster battery helps give the motor more voltage which overcomes the failure.
