Does anyone know if the 2003 Ford Escape V6 is an interference engine? The timing chains are loose (not broken), no compression at all and the engine cranks like the chains are broken (fast).

I believe it is, but a leak down test will show of valves are leaking, or just squirt a little engine oil into the cylinder and re check comps, if they come up you will have a ring problem, if nothing it will be valves.
