Alternator swap, what other alternators would work for this vehicle?

Not really many options for that vehicle It was sold as the Ford Escape, the Mercury Mariner and the Mazda Tribute. 2005 and 2006 with the 3.0 show as interchangeable. Or you can get a new unit for around $200.00

That vehicle is a pain to change the alternator because you need to drop the axle out of the way to even get it out. You need to get the vehicle in the air and remove the lower splash shields, then the right-hand front tire and the intermediate axle. Then you can get to the alternator to unbolt and disconnect it from the wiring and cooling duct. Then you need to twist it around a bit and remove it through the wheel well.
