Interchangeable gas tank query

I need a gas tank replaced and have been told by several junk yards that a regular Caravan tank will not fit in the Sport. Please advise.

Welcome to 2CarPros. There are two different wheelbases used on the Caravan. From the interchange it shows only the wheelbase as being the issue, you need the tank for the correct chassis. I show nothing different for the Sport option with either wheelbase.
The Mopar number that comes up shows 4897570AA fitting the 1996 in all option packages.
It also shows it is obsolete.
The interchange I have also shows the tank as only being different with the wheelbase.
