Hi,

I don't know how you keep getting these crazy ones. LOL I wish you were my neighbor. We could work on these together. Actually, I do think I would run if you had this one to work on.

If you are replacing the manifold, you will need to program the runner sensor using a scanner that is designed for VAG.

Okay, the directions are listed below. Please take your time on this one. I have found that anything made by VW, Audi, and Porsche is extremely sensitive.

Let me know. Also, the last pic shows a flat rate for the job, which I feel isn't enough time to do it. It calls for 4.3 hours. I would charge for at least 6 hours.

Take care and let me know if I can help. Are you working on vehicles full-time now?

Joe

I would love that lol. And I should’ve listened because I got super frustrated and left because everything seems to be disconnected, but it won’t pull off. I have to go back right now. And this is the same guy Wink who owns the F150. I timed that engine and rebuilt that transmission. Now I’m doing his mother in laws Tiguan. He has a few more cars that he wants me to do. So, I guess I am doing it full time. It wasn’t planned and it takes me forever to finish a car because I don’t want to have to redo it, so I take my time. Plus, I’m still learning. He doesn’t care, though, because I’m honest and I get it done right. This one is frustrating though, lol.

And I told them I would only charge $200, so I can’t change it now. I am still learning how to charge obviously, lol.

Also, I did have an autel scanner that I was using, but my friend needed it back so I don’t have a scanner now. Once I finish replacing the intake can I drive it to the dealer and have them do it or can I not drive it at all until it’s reset?

Ariana,

It should run but it won't be pretty. LOL You should be able to get it to a dealer. You are doing this for way too cheap. Ugh! Labor should be at least $500.00.

I'm here, so when the next one comes to you, let me know what is being done and I'll let you know the flat rate time for the job. You're too good to cheat yourself. Plus, you're in CA. I can imagine anyone there would charge less than $100.00 an hour. I know the average labor rate in CA is near $150.00.

Take care and let me know how things turn out for you.

Joe

Is there any way around having to use the VW software to clear it? The dealer wants almost $200.00 to do it. I tried with an Autel Maxi IM 508 but it didn’t work. I changed the intake and the purge solenoid. Light just won’t go away

Ariana,

Nice to hear from you. The idea that it is a VW limits you to what can be done with a general scan tool. You either need to get your hands on a scanner specific to VAG (VW Audi Group) or the VAG Com program for a computer. They aren't cheap and they constantly require updating. Also, they require different connector cables for different models/issues. See pic 1 below. Also, they misspelled tool. Instead, it reads Yool. LOL

Check out the place in pic 2. It explains it in more detail.

I wish I had a better answer. Does the vehicle seem to be running better?
