I have found the TCM but can not get it out. I read somewhere that you just pull it down and angle it sideways and it should come right out. It is not coming out. Seems to be stuck in the back. Is there a bolt? Any tips?

Why are you removing the TCM? Do you have a problem with the transmission that indicates the module itself has failed? What testing was done (many issues blamed on the TCM actually trace back to internal transmission problems).

Yes I am experiencing issues on take off. BMW diagnosed as being the TCM/EGS. They want $1880.00. I got one off eBay using the same model numbers and I plugged it in and it seems to be working. Only took a short trip around the block. The transmission light has not came back on and the car is shifting fine. It never had shifting issues. Just seemed to be stuck in limp mode at take off. Problem went away sometimes. I really appreciate your help. I know there has to be a trick to it.

Okay, the TCM is over the DME/ECU in the pocket on the passengers side of the engine bay. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Remove the four cover screws.
Release the connector lock on the ECU and remove the connector (this may not be needed depending on how much cable is in the harness, some you can pull the ECU out without disconnecting) With the ECU out the TCM pulls free of the clips that hold it, by pushing it down toward the ground. While pulling it forward slightly. You need to release both ends. Then you can pull the unit out. Take the replacement unit and transfer the bracket over to the "new" unit. Reinstall in reverse order.
