So my friend blew his engine on his 2005 Dodge Durango and just bought another one with 80,000 miles on it. It is already in the vehicle in place but everything still needs to be bolted up. Motor mounts, transmission, flex plate, etc. Basically finish the install. He has asked me to help him finish it. I do work on my own vehicles but am not a mechanic. Any help, advice, or instructions on start to finish will be appreciated. Thanks.

One big piece of advice. Verify that the replacement engine will actually work with the computer and wiring that is in the truck now, before you bolt it all in.
Chrysler changed a bunch of items around between the years on their vehicles. It can turn a simple engine replacement into a real pain.

Looking at the interchange book it shows the 2004-2005 Durango as direct interchange. The 5.7 out of an 2004-2008 truck can work but you need to change a bunch of stuff over.
