Wait for the engine to cool, then place a container underneath the back of the power steering pump. The container will be used to catch the power steering fluid from the pump when the power steering hoses are removed.
Locate the two hoses attached to the back of the power steering pump. Note that the upper hose is substantially larger than the lower hose. These two hoses both travel from the power steering pump to the control valve underneath the vehicle on the driver's side.
Remove the lower hose from the back of the power steering pump. Generally, the lower hose is attached to the back of the pump with a hose clamp. Begin by loosening the clamp by turning the clamp's screw in a counterclockwise direction with a flathead screwdriver. Slide the clamp away from the power steering pump, then pull the hose away from the pump. Allow the fluid to drain from the pump into the container.
Remove the upper hose from the back of the power steering pump. Generally, the upper hose is attached to the back of the pump with a nut, which is actually built into the hose itself. Turn the nut with a wrench in a counterclockwise direction, then pull the hose away from the pump. Allow any fluid to drain from the pump into the container.
Trace both hoses underneath the vehicle to the control valve, then remove the hoses from the control valve. Each hose is attached to the control valve with a nut at the end of each hose. Use a wrench to remove the hoses from the control valve.
Attach each new power steering hose to the control valve using a wrench.
Feed both hoses up into the engine bay.
Connect the larger power steering hose to the back of the power steering pump by sliding the nut at the end of the hose over the valve and turning the nut in a clockwise direction with a wrench.
Connect the smaller power steering hose to the back of the power steering pump by first sliding a hose clamp over the end of the hose, then pushing the end of the hose over the nipple on the pump. Slide the hose clamp to the end of the hose where the hose meets the pump, then tighten the clamp by turning the clamp's screw in a clockwise direction with a flathead screwdriver.
Pour power steering fluid into the pump's dipstick tube, located at the back of the pump. Start the engine, and turn the steering wheel to its extreme right and left several times. Turn the engine off, then read the fluid level at the tip of the pump's dipstick. The fluid level should be between the "Add" and "Full" marks. Add fluid if necessary.
A/C Compressor Belt
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the undercover.
Loosen the idler pulley locknut
Remove the belt.
To install:
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
NOTE
Be sure the belt is correctly engaged with the pulley groove.
Adjust the belt tension.
Tighten the locknut to 26 ft. Lbs.
Alternator & Power Steering Belt
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the undercover.
Loosen the idler pulley locknut
Remove the belt.
To install:
Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
NOTE
Be sure the belt is correctly engaged with the pulley groove.
Adjust the belt tension.
Tighten the locknut to 26 ft. Lbs.
