Recently my shifter knob wont come out of park and i have to manually push in the shift lock to get it out of park..wen this happens i noticed the brake lights dnt wrk.. But sometimes wen i havnt start thr car in a while the shifter does work normally and the brake lights DO work when the shifter works properly. What could this be?

Sounds like a faulty brake light switch. It is located on the brake pedal up under the dash. This same switch controls the shift-lock system as well as the brake lights
