Brakes problem
1998 Infiniti I30 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

Hi, I have an interesting issue my brake lights were staying on after I parked. My mechanic said there was a plastic piece that broke it was like a spacer but we couldn't figure out the true part name or find one he did whatever and replaced it. Months later I have a little different issue in that the brake lights come on but I can tap them while in park and the lights will go off, but I stand and wait and they will turn back on by themself. What do I do is this something I can deal with or better to take to a mechanic? Is it a fuse all test good inside and under the hood. I can not find the actual brak switch didn't get a book when I purchased the car used. Oh 6 years ago. Car has been great until this wierd problem. Oh the radio doesn't work all the time and the inside clock doesn't always light up or keep time not sure if this is an electrical relation the the above brake light issue.

It sounds like you have a bad brake light switch or it is loose. It is located at the top of the brake pedal. Check it to see if it is loose. When the lights come on, move it around to see if they go out.

Let me know what you find.

Hello, thank your the confirmation of the issue. My landlord took a look at it for me and he was able to adjust the switch. So far the car is good. Take care

Ok here we go. Been having a problem with the car not starting due to battery not holding charge. Discover the battery needed water oopse! Then ran well for two-three days. Went from home to work less than 10 miles, back home, to the bank total maybe 10 miles, l then to grocery. Car wouldn't start accidentally locked the doors using the driver door I think. Then hear the car repeating switching the locks on and off rapidlly after I had to open the door from the passenger side since the outside lock it not working on the driver side. Come to find out the passenger side doesn't want to work either. About a half hour later went back to the car waiting for the tow truck and opened the car door to hear the horn trying to sound and interior lights blinking like the alram is going off. Best I can figure either the car isn't acknowledging the key(chipped) or I have a much bigger issue with the computer crashing or wiring harness issue what do you think? Please help I cann't afford much.

How low on water was the battery? Have you had it load tested since you refilled it?

I haven't load tested it I was toooo busy going to work. My mother put about a bottle of water in it 9oz. It seems that the panic alarm is going off. Late last night when I tried working with it the alarm would go off as soon as the cables were back on the battery.

Ok my landlord/mechanic tested the battery with and without load did well. Alternator so far is charging back to the battery, battery is strong bought it in april 2008 75 month interstate connections a bit dirty but we cleaned them. While the battery is hooked up the car alarm(panic mode) was going off started the car the alarm continued and we moved the car. Turned off the car opened the trunk with the key it stopped the panic alarm. Why? Computer issue? Or do I have an electrical short or should I bypass the alarm or replace a fuse or switch? Mom thinks when the car is hot it wont turn on because of the netural switch over heating. Florida is a really hot place this summer by some how i'm thinking that isn't the issue.
