I have an '08 F250SD 5.4l3v 4x4. compared to other vehicles of this year I am relatively lower milage. I bought this truck and noticed there was a flashing 'security light' and I always thought that it meant that my vehicle's security was working as it should. A month ago my truck was parked out side and on the street when i went to bed. the next morning at around 10am i noticed that my tuck was missing. When I got it back the ignition was punched out and learnt that it could in fact be started with a screw driver. During the last month of repairs I found out that the flashing security light means that the vehicle's RFID has not been used in over 3 years and that anyone with a the know how can punch the ignition and start it without the IMMO preventing the vehicle from activation. How do I reactivate the IMMO without having to go into FORD and paying them the outrageous fee of $750 to reprogram a key to my truck.

Hello,

The flashing security light does not prove the immobilizer was protecting the truck. Since the vehicle started after the ignition was punched, the PATS system was likely bypassed, disabled, mis-programmed, or being fooled by an aftermarket remote-start bypass. I would call a mobile locksmith to reprogram the system they can do it for about $250.00. You should replace or rekey the ignition cylinder and door locks as needed, erase all old keys from PATS memory, and program only the keys currently in their possession. That is the part that actually protects the truck going forward. Let me know how to goes.
