I just had the key and CAS module replaced at the dealership and reprogrammed. Now the vehicle stalls amidst immediately street starting. What would cause this?

I would take the car back because it sounds like it is not programmed correctly? Can I ask if the security light is flashing? If so, this is the problem.

The CAS module (Car Access System) in your 2009 BMW X3 (E83) is responsible for managing vehicle access, security, and immobilization.

So, on back it goes! Let me know what they say.

I have taken it back and they are charging me another 400 to diagnose the issue, saying it's something else unknown. What would be other possible causes?

Can I ask if the security light is flashing? We should do a CAN scan, this video will show you how. You can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.
