My key broke off in the ignition. I had to drill it out to replace and damaged the ignition switch in the process. I got a new assembly for it and installed a new ignition Switch as well. Now car will only start and stay running if I physically press on the back of the ignition switch (through where the radio used to be) and hold it the entire time I’m driving. I’m not sure what to do next. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

If this happened after replacing the switch then it is more then likely one of two things.

First it is the switch itself that has a loose solder joint that causes it to not keep ignition voltage supplied when the switch is in the on position.

Next would be a loose connection with the connector which would cause the same issue.

Below is the process to replace the switch just to ensure you didn't miss something but it is pretty clearly a loose connection at the switch.

If it were me, I would remove the switch again and check all the terminals in the connector and if they are fine, have them provide a new switch.
