I am 90% restoring the SUV listed above. I bought in great shape but not running and no transmission. In doing so It had some wiring issues that I was sorting through. The main one was if I turned on the head lights the radio shut off. Turn the lights off and the radio comes back on. So I tested my voltages in the fuse block and found the whole right half of the fuse block was 9 volts and the left was 14.3 with the charger running.
So I traced the feed to the ignition switch and found one of the feeds coming in was 14.3 and 9 going out. So I got a new ignition switch. Installed it and now the ECM is in security lock down. All lights flash key on or off and everything is dead. There is no security wire on the 1997 ignition switch as that started in 98. Any ideas? Thanks!

Good evening,

Try the key reset procedure to see if the key will learn the password.

So I got the security issue resolved but Im back at square 1 again. I have 7.5 volts on the orange brown and red, 13.5 on the pink and white and 0.0 on the yellow at the switch and 7.5 on the whole right half of the fuse block. This would be all too easy with a wiring diagram but my chiltons doesnt cover this and my factory service manual on disc has a VMware error I cant solve either. Ideas or a PDF diagram maybe? Thanx!

Thank you very much Roy. Would it be possible to get a shot of where the right hand red wire that feeds the orange and brown originates? That is my bad feed circuit.

Sorry it took so long to update. In the end the 40 amp fuse for that circuit was blown. Obviously I wasnt looking for a blown fuse as one would think Id have 0 voltage but I had 8 volts. Clearly I was getting a back feed from somewhere and to this moment I have no idea where. The diagram does not show a possible back feed source and the main box has no way to back feed so it must be coming through the ignition switch though I dont see how as the circuits on that side of the switch are isolated from the others on the other feed. Maybe you can see something I dont. Thanx Roy. And bye the way that was 8 volts under load. It was 12 volts load free. I am going to monitor the voltage and yank fuses to see which circuit is feeding it.
