I was having trouble turning my key in the ignition so in March 2022 I replaced my ignition lock cylinder.

In the last 10 days the ignition has stopped turning to the off position and stops at the accessory position.

I can remove my key when it's in the accessory position.

Today I removed the cylinder and noticed that the nub (lock button) that locks the cylinder in place is missing.

Now when I try to reinstall the cylinder, since it will not turn to the off position, it will not lock in place and just slides out.

I have another cylinder housing but since it will not turn to off I cannot remove the cylinder and swap it out.

Any idea why the keys comes out when turned to accessory or why it will not turn to the off position?

So, what happens is the new lock cylinder has fallen apart internally and it won't allow the lock to be moved completely. here is how you can remove it without the lock being in the park position. Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
