Ignition control module location

Hi and thanks for using 2CarPros.com.

In 2002 this vehicle did not have a separate ignition control module. Instead, it was controlled by the power control module (PCM). The following information is direct from Alldata regarding the ignition system:

Integrated Electronic Ignition System
The Integrated Electronic Ignition (EI) system consists of a crankshaft position (CKP) sensor, coil pack(s), connecting wiring, and PCM. The Coil On Plug (COP) Integrated EI System uses a separate coil per spark plug and each coil is mounted directly onto the plug. The COP Integrated EI System eliminates the need for spark plug wires but does require input from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor. Operation of the components are as follows...

With that in mind, can you tell me if you have checked for trouble codes? Here is a link that shows how it is done. If there are codes saved, it may be very helpful in helping you narrow this problem down.

Your car does not have an ignition module it is interrogated into the PCM. Here are the engine wiring diagrams so you can see for yourself below. Have you checked the PCM relay?

2002 Ford Taurus mileage: 40,000. I am having trouble finding an ignition module for this car. According to Ford, it is on backorder and will not ever be made again by ford. Do you know of an aftermarket source for this module and if so the part#?

You may want to check the relay for the ECM as that may be causing your problem.

I'm not sure what it is that they're trying to sell you but the 2002 Taurus doesn't offer a 4 cylinder engine in the US and the V6's don't even have an Ignition Control Module. That job is performed by the main PCM.

The ICM is control by PCM, therefore do I have to replace PCM? I have no spark. Replace all new ignition part, plus crankshaft sensor.

i have a 1994 sable,i have no spark from the ignition coil,i replaced the ignition control module,the engine is 3.8,after i repalaced the module,i still dont have spark,looking to get the answer to the problem

Check to see if you have injector pulse using as noid light. If no pulse found, check for power at one side of the coil and injectors with the key on.
