How often does this happen? Clearly we would assume this is fuel related which it could be but most likely not for lack of fuel. The reason is, when you are pump the accelerator all you are doing is opening the throttle plate and allowing more air into the engine. So if you have too much fuel and then open the throttle to allow more air in helps get it back to the proper air/fuel ratio.
First thing I would suggest is to replace the spark plugs so that we can first look at them and then make sure they are not fouled.
Can you remove the plugs and get a picture of the tips?
Then we need to monitor the fuel pressure and make sure it is correct.
