My car was running completely fine and then my key wouldn't turn past the lock position. So I changed both the key part as well as the electrical part of the ignition switch, but now it won't start. It acts like it wants to but it's not getting a connection somewhere. Is there a fuse, ground wire or something else I need to check?

Hello,

This is almost certainly a problem with your vehicle's immobilizer system. When you change the ignition lock cylinder and keys, the new keys have to be programmed to your vehicle's Power-train Control Module (PCM) or "computer". This can only be done at a locksmith or the dealership. This is intentionally done to keep thieved from making keys and stealing vehicles. Please get back to us with how everything progresses.

Thanks,
Alex

My keys don't have chips in them so there is nothing to program. Is there something else that it could be?

If I can jump in here. it sounds like the electrical part of the switch is defective. I would get a replacement. To be sure here is a guide to help you check for power and the ignition switch wiring diagrams to help you confirm the issue:

Check out the diagrams (below). Please let us know what you find.

It was a $5.00 40A fuse that was hidden behind the air vent tube under the dash!
