Hi Jeff,

If you are referring to your KIN (key-less ignition node) then no. You should be able to have them program your current keys to it.

I attached the procedure if you would like to read through it.

Please let me know if you need anything else. Thanks

Remote doors locks, remote start, and panic alarm will not work even after changing the battery. There is nothing on the instrument panel to indicate a problem. At the very last the door locks would work sparatically at different distances and angles.

Hey Iamairguard,

It sounds like the remote has gone bad and the new one will fix your problem, what happens is the remote is an inexpensive electronic and it can become damaged knocking the frequency off base. Do you have a second remote that works okay?

Please let me know, Ken

Sorry Ken, I hit the wrong button.
Use the first remote for a couple of years and it stop working as previously described. I went to the second remote and it worked for about 18 month and it stopped working like the first. On a whim I went back to the first remote and it started working and has been for the past 2 years. Now both do not work and the dealer has informed me that I need to spend $500 to replace both and reprogram the new remotes. Any further suggestions?

Yep, unfortunately, the remotes get banged around which knocks the frequency chip out causing the remotes not to work.

I assume you are talking about the remote keyless entry button. If so, you have to have a scan tool in order to program them to the vehicle. I attached the detail from the manual but it just says the same thing.

Also, if this was previously programmed to a vehicle then it will most likely not be able to be reprogrammed to your vehicle. However, it is worth trying but unfortunately it requires a scan tool that can perform this function.

Please let us know if you have questions on this. Thanks
