I have the car listed above RT. I had my vehicle stolen while I was in the store for a few minutes. They had punched out my ignition and doesn't look like there's damage on the steering column itself. So, I'm wondering what do I need to replace it so I do not need to use a screwdriver anymore because of them popping out the ignition and I have to jump start my car all the time after this has happened. So, I need to fix it and need to know what I need to get to fix it please.

Hi,

I can't be sure what needs to be replaced, but based on what you described, it sounds like the ignition key lock cylinder was damaged. Also, if the battery is being drained, there is a chance you are not getting the switch fully off.

If you look below, I provided the directions for the removal and replacement of the ignition key lock cylinder. Take a look through them and let me know if you have questions.

Take care,

joe

I do greatly appreciate your response but if you say someone was in your car and popped out that ignition to where you have to use a screwdriver. You know to stick in there and turn it and there was no other damage they just pop that out what would your thoughts be on what needs to be replaced obviously the switch and the ignition cylinder now is the ignition switch and the housing ignition housing is that the same because I'm getting confused on the ignition cylinder ignition switch and ignition housing but if there was no other damage wouldn't throw those would be the that's what we need to be replaced.

Hi,

They made a mess of it for you. You should be able to install a new key lock cylinder. That is what was removed.

Did you look at the directions above? They will help you through replacement.

Let me know.

Joe

Yes, thank you I did look at it, that will be very helpful once the cylinder gets in. So, do you think I need to get a new ignition switch? I can use a screwdriver to get my car to start and all. There is no resistance.

Hi,

Chances are the switch is fine. Once you install the lock cylinder, it should return to normal.

Let me know if you have questions or if I can help.

Take care,

Joe
