Car will crank over and fire up but stalls out right away. I just put a new fuel pump in. I can crank it and crank it, but it also has no throttle response. I think the ignition is cutting the fuel pump out.

Hi,

This could be a fuel-related issue or ignition-related. By chance, have you scanned the computer to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes? Here is a video showing how it's done:

https://youtu.be/b2IJGfImVvw

Also, I've seen where the crankshaft position sensor can cause this. Take a look through this link and let me know if it seems to mirror what you experience:

Also, pay attention to see if the tachometer is moving when you crank the engine.

Let me know.

I put a new crank sensor in the car, but the symptoms stayed the same. Is it possible the knock sensor is bad? Or could I have gotten a faulty crank sensor from Oreilly's, also is there a way to manually put gas in the engine to get it to fire and run? also, could timing be off or fuel/air ratio and if so, how can I fix this problem?

Hi,

Any of the things you mentioned could cause a no-start. As far as the crank sensor, yes, it's possible to get a bad one. Have you checked to see if it is getting spark? If the sensor is bad, you will lose spark to the plugs. Here is a link that shows how it's done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-for-ignition-spark

Since this is a 2013, the best thing to do would be to scan the can-bus. CAN stands for controller area network. Basically, all the different modules/computers are tied together via a few wires. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. Here is a link that shows how it is done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/can-scan-controller-area-network-easy

Also, I copied one of your pics and circled what I believe you are referring to. Take a look and let me know if I'm correct. If I am, that is a tire pressure indicator lamp.

Let me know.

Can you give me a detailed description of where all the sensors are located?

Hi,

I would be happy to. If you are referring to the tire pressure sensors, each wheel has one. I attached a pic below showing one.

If there are others you need, let me know.

Take care,

Joe

What does the tachometer have to do with it not starting?

Hi,

If the tachometer doesn't move when you are cranking the engine, there is a good chance there is no RPM signal from the crankshaft position sensor which is required for it to run. I realize you replaced it, but there could be a wiring issue.

By chance, could you record it cranking and upload it for me to hear?

Let me know.
