Engine will stall when hot. Crank after stall and I have no spark. Turn key to 0 and crank and engine fires up. Have replaced module, pick up coil and done full tune up. I can let idle for thirty to forty minutes, drive approximately a mile and a half and engine stalls. Turn key off, crank and fire up. Do not understand what seems to reset once key is turned off. Flash codes are 18 and 32. Help please! Not very experienced on Ford. Also have no scan tools. Have been marine and foreign car tech for last twenty five years.

Hello,

Lets see if we cant get you going.

18 - Ignition diagnostic monitor (IDM) circuit failure

and

32 - EGR position sensor below closed limit

There are only a few things in the system did you try a new ignition coil?

Also check for power at the coil when it stalls it could be a bad ignition switch. Here is a wiring diagram (below)

Please let us know what happens, we are interested to see what it is.

Cheers, Ken

Thanks Ken, coil was the fix, drove over 12 miles no stall. New problem. On return trip I lifted gas to slow down a bit, when I stepped on throttle again engine backfired 2 times, intake backfire I think. I drove about 2 miles back to shop under moderate load all seemed ok. Shifted to park and got out, engine was running rough and surging and chuggle until it died. Restart right away, same thing. Checked all vacuum lines in case anything got blown off, all good. No codes, restart 2 more times same result. Now just cranks with no start, tries to fire but won't. May be flooded from trying to start?
