I keep blowing my 30 amp ign key 1 fuse (#11) only when I make a right turn shutting car completely down. I drove it around taking left turns no issue then took a right and it blew.

Hi,

The IG1 fuse powers the ignition switch. There must be a short in the steering column that causes a short when you turn right.

What I would suggest is to remove the upper and lower steering column cover and inspect the wiring to the switch. (See pic below) Check for anything that is loose or damaged.

Let me know what you find or if you have other questions,

Take care,

joe

I started searching from the key slot over but haven't followed all the way around to any connections by floor board or anything.

Hi,

As far as the location is concerned, I wish I could tell you. It could be anywhere. Take your time and be thorough. Wiring issues are usually nightmares.

If you have questions, let me know and I'll try my best to help. Keep in mind, if you have the column cover removed, you may want to try wiggling the wires or turning the steering to see if you can make it fail. Hopefully, you'll see a spark to help locate the issue.

Joe
