Had my motor mounts replaced by neighbor. Afterward it idles fine but now has very weak acceleration, it backfires, there's a metal clanking noise coming from underneath, and after 2 or 3 minutes of driving it starts making a very loud whining noise until I come to a complete stop.

Other information is no check engine light, replaced plug wires and coils, replaced drivers front axle, and the whining noise will also start if the van is just idling also.

Trying to get it running decent to give to my 18 year old who just started college here in town.

Thank you

Good morning,

The noise and backfiring could be something with the valve train has failed.

Can you take a video for me to hear the noise?

Thank you.

This sounds like a bearing from either the serpentine belt or timing belt. One of the pulley bearings may be making the noise.

I would remove the drive belt and see if the noise is still there.

Low power could be from low compression, timing belt worn or cat converter being clogged.
