I'm getting a P0507 code and my truck. I recently replaced the idle air control valve and the connector that goes to it. I don't have any idea why it is doing the again. This occurred before and that is why I replaced the IAC.

The P0507 code indicates an issue with the Idle Control System RPM being higher than expected. This can be due to a sticking EGR valve, or a vacuum leak, I would follow this guide when the engine is cold:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-use-an-engine-vacuum-gauge

and here is the location of the EGR and how to test it, check out the video below:

Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes.

Hi Ken,

Since my truck is old, I replaced the EGR valve. I attached a smoke machine and saw smoke coming out of the EGR pipe going into the intake manifold. I fixed that and confirmed that by no smoke coming out

I took my truck for a ride and the check engine light came on and it was a P0507 code again. When I turned the truck off and started again the RPM would spike to 2,000 RPMs.

There was smoke coming out of the oil adding pipe at the base, but I thought that wouldn't affect the problem with the RPM.

What should I check next?

Ron

If you have no vacuum leaks and you replaced the IAC motor it sounds like you have a bad PCM. I would send it in for testing which you can find by searching google or eBay. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens.

Hi Ken, I replaced the PCM and did the relearn process (10 min, 30 sec, 10 min, 30 sec, 10 min, 30 sec). I had an AC leak in my evaporator core, so I had to remove the dash to get to the heater and evaporator core. So my truck has been in the garage for about 2 1/2 weeks. Now when I start the truck I can hear the starter engage but the truck doesn't start. I need to get it started so that I can pare the new PCM with the crank shaft sensor and replenish my AC. What would make it not start after replacing the PCM?

Was the PCM pre-programmed? If not this will be the problem. Also, is the security light flashing?

I got the PCM from a automotive junk yard. It is the same one as my old one according to the numbers on it. I have included a video of what happened when I try to start it.

Yep, the PCM needs to be programmed to the truck (VIN), you can see the security light on which will not allow the engine to start. Thanks for the video, it helps. You can get a preprogrammed unit by searching Google or Ebay.
