How do I detect a faulty IACV? Does the pipe on the bearing has to be very free when rotating it? Thank you. John

you scan for codes to check an IAC. the throttle shaft should be free, but that does not touch the IAC the IAC moves in and out to block air so it will idle correctly. try cleaning throttle plate and IAC hole with choke cleaner. clean plate on both sides.
