I have a bad IAC valve. I'm trying to find a new one, but they want the part number to be matched up! My issue is that the IAC on my car has a totally different part number then I can find it doesn't match up with any of the ones I'm finding. Plus The IAC on my car says it is from Mexico but when we were given a new set of brakes one time the new ones had to be taken back as they were from Mexico to which they did not fix my car at all. What should I do or who should I contact about this as I really need a new IAC for my car which by the way is a 5-speed manual most of the IAC's are for automatics. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

Hi Cole,

I am not sure I am following what the issue is. Why are they trying to match the part that is on the car? Why would they not just look up your vehicle and order the appropriate part?

I understand they may want to try and just reorder what is on the car to ensure it is correct but if that part number is not working, then they need to do it as I stated above.

Here is a link to a very popular site that has a couple options for your vehicle and three of them are for manual transmission:

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/honda,2002,civic,1.7l+l4,1386277,fuel+&+air,idle+air+control+(iac)+valve,6072

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-replace-an-idle-speed-control-motor-iac

Please tell me if I am missing something because again, I am not sure why they are having issues with this.

Well if the parts list is to be trusted it looks like the current part number for the 1.7 with a stick in a Civic is Honda # 16022-PLC-003 The old number was 16022-PLE-J01 which is listed as obsolete.

The VIN# should help you find the correct part. Call your local Honda dealer, tell them what part your looking for. They will ask for a VIN# and after they look up the part, ask for the part number.

Nowadays when ordering a part especially from the dealer they will ask for a VIN# since your vehicle is produce from Japan, United States of America, or Canada. So that should be your first step in locating your part.
