Hi guys.

I am in desperate need of the said car's electrical wiring diagram, particularly the engine management diagram. One mechanic asked for my help to start a Ford Telstar TX5 V6 that was converted from being an automatic into a manual one by fitting a manual transmission gearbox.

At present, the car the car cranks but will not fire up. It has a distributor.

There is a lot of possibilities of why it does not start, which includes TCM blocking the ECM from receiving the start permit signal since the neutral safety switch is no longer there. It could be a poorly connected ground. It could be a disconnected sensor. It could be a faulty fuel management system, compression, etc.

I am aware that all the other things can tested, which is fine. I am very worried about the engine management wiring diagram since I do not have it.

Please help with that.

Hi there. The model in question is a 1995 Ford Telstar TX5 Ghia 2.5L V6 KL engine. In South Africa, the cars were introduced into the market a bit later in the market.

Thank you again.

Do you have diagram for both automatic transmission and manual transmission? Remember that the car was converted from being an AX to a manual transmission and never started since.

What could it be?

Thank you again. Let me ask, so basically, I must rewire the car as a manual instead of an A/T. Now, what do we do about the transmission control module? Do I by-pass it by making 12Volts go into the Transmission control module as if the neutral safety switch has shifted into park or neutral?

How about the immobilizer?

Thanks

You will need to make the connections between the PCM and TCM. I don't think you can fool the PCM with a manual transmission, but you never know, it will take some trial and error. The immobilizer should be okay.
