When I put it in reverse it does not move and the reverse light does come on. When I am on the highway it won't go over 60.

Hi, Kirsten,

Listen, if the reverse lights aren't coming on, I suspect there is a problem with the park / neutral switch (range sensor). Do me a favor. Take notice if the indicator shows it is in reverse when you shift. Also, note what gear it indicates when you place it in drive.

It is possible that the sensor / shift linkage may have come loose and need adjusted. Here are the directions for that process. The attached picture correlates with the directions.

ADJUSTMENTS
Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Switch Adjustment
1. Remove manual control linkage from manual shaft of A/T assembly.
2. Set manual shaft of A/T assembly in N position.
3. Loosen park/neutral position (PNP) switch fixing bolts.

4. Insert pin into adjustment holes in both Park/Neutral Position (PNP) switch and manual shaft of A/T assembly as near vertical as possible.
5. Reinstall any part removed.
6. Check continuity of park/neutral position (PNP) switch.

Let me know what you find. Also, since if it is possible, I would have the computer scanned to see if there are diagnostic trouble codes stored that may indicate a problem with the transmission.

I will watch for your reply.

Take care,
Joe
