I don’t know how much oil I lost, is there a way to know how much oil is in the system once I replace the condenser? There appeared to be a lot of oil lost maybe 4oz? This happened while I was camping two years ago, and the system has been unpressurized since. When adding oil does it need to be added in the compressor or can I add through low pressure line when I replace the high and low Shrader valves?

Hi,

The entire system holds 4.23 oz of pag oil. I was able to find a chart for when replacing components. When the condenser is replaced, it says to add 1 oz. I attached the chart below for your review. Also, you can add the oil directly into the condenser prior to installation. Note that it also indicates in the event of an abrupt pressure loss, 2 oz should be added. In this case, which seems to fit what happened.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe

See pic below.

Note: If the system has been open for this long, you really should vacuum it down and recharge it.
