I cannot open the front hood. The hood release doesn't work.

I've tried to open the hood using the hood release cable under the steering wheel dash, but the hood doesn't budge. I don't want to break the plastic lever.

cable cold be broken if you don't feel any resistance if not have someone pull the cable and bang hood with hand near latch, it may jar it loose. then lube latch with penetrating oil/wd40 etc.
