Hi, I am Chirayu. I am having a halogen bulb heating problem in my car. Due to very high temperature of halogen bulb plastic reflection coating (surrounded to bulb/headlamp box inner side) got melt when I drove car for eighty km in night and one side bulb burst.

My car is a home for mice, they cut some wire (relay to headlamp wire) under bonnet some week ago. I joint the wire using another good quality piece of wire (not the same quality).

I think the problem is due to wiring work done a week before night drive of eighty km.

Please give me some idea what to do. I am soon going to sale my car in scrap, give me solution that I can manage to use with headlamps for next five to six months.

Thank You.

At lease you can tell me whether does bulb overheat due to wire quality not matching or has joints?

If you touch it with your hand/fingers shortens the life drastically use a tissue or clean rag to install it. It may be a bad ground to headlights. We have no information on this car and not being able to physically see it I am unable to give a further diagnosis.
