I accidentally reved my engine all the way up

i just bought this car. The person who Had it before me. He had customized the foot pedals. Other day I was driving on the highway and the gas pedal got stuck to the ground. Which had caused the rpm to go all the way up. I couldn't move the pedal. So I pulled over and shut off the engine. Then pulled the gas pedal out. Then when I started the car I smelled oil burning for the rest of my drive home!

Does this mean I ceased the engine???

Lubricate the gas cable and also look at the front cover and underneath the oil pan for leakage
