2001 Hyundai Tiburon Slows and jerks forward

Today, while I was driving it home, I noticed my car slow down and jerk forward. It did this several times until I made it home. I didn't change the amount of pressure applied to the gas significantly. It has never done this before, however I just purchased it used in January. Please help!

HAs the check engine light come on? Has the fuel pressure been checked?
