Speedometer not working properly?

my speedo is on the frits it wont work one minute then it will. sometimes it will bounds up and down like it's a loose wire but does it go to the transmission or is there some kid of mechanical part?

Hello,
It sounds like you have a faulty vehicle speed sensor.
The speed sensor is located on the side of the transmission. It sends signal of the revolution of the transmission shaft which translates into a value on the gauge.
You could have a loose connection to the sensor or the sensor could be dirty or simply lost it calibration.
