My battery went dead. When we restarted the car, the airbag light stayed on. The dealer replaced the battery for me. He told me the airbag light was on because I had something heavy on the floor (front passenger side). I had a 6-pack of Pepsi. He told me I should not put anything heavy on the floor - the wiring to the airbag was under the carpet there and the Pepsi was affecting the airbag light. I've never heard of this before. Can this be true?

This seems to be a reoccuring problem with Hyundais. The Air Bag light came on in my '99 Sonata. Mine was an issue with the sensor in the passenger seat and I had to have it replaced, only to find out later that there was a recall. What is the difference between a 6 pack of pepsi and some one's feet? Keep in mind that I had several mechanics tell me that when that light is on, your air bags may not deploy properly.
