my car will start an run an idle about 3 to 4 seconds an then it will die like it is starving for gas or it is flooding i replaced the fuel pump an now i am at a loss at what to check now

starving for gas and flooding are two opposite problems so the first thing to do would be figure out which it is. if it is starving for fuel then the fuel filter could be clogged or the fuel injectors may be dirty. if it's flooding then the fuel injectors may be stuck open or the spark plugs not getting healthy spark.
