2002 Hyundai Sonata fuel tank

gas tank will only accept fuel very slowly. at one time high air pressure released when filler cap was removed. local mechanic removed cannister closed valve ,was told by dealer that was likely problem, still fills very slowly. any suggestions? thanks R.
