2001 Hyundai Sonata wipers

hi well my daughter has a 2001 hyundai sonata and when you put the key in the on position with the wiper switch off the fuse would blow for the wipers almost everytime sometimes it wont blow until you put the wiper switch on after the car key is in the on position and sometimes it wont blow.....please help

Hi zapatasugar,

I am not sure of the circuit system used for this model but most has a standby current to the wiper when the ignition switch is turned on.

If the wiper motor has any internal shorting, turning the ignition switch on would fuse it.

Disconnect wiper motor connections and test switch. If the fuse don't blow with ignition switch on, try working the wiper switches, if still ok, you need to check the wiper motor assy, possibly a replacement is necessary.
