The sonata shifts abruptly at cruising and check engine light comes on. Scanner gives the code p1529 - tcm, transmission control module, and refers to dealer. What does it mean? Is it transmission or speed sensor or some other part?

This code will be referring to a fault with the transmission ECU which is common here is how you can replace the unit in the diagrams below.

Engine/Transmission Control Module (E/TCM) (A/T) (2.4L) Behind lower center of dash.
