2001 Hyundai Sonata

I have had 3 Sonatas that have had the airbag lite on because of the passenger seat sensor going bad ( this is there so that when a passenger is sitting there the sensor tells the computer to activate the passenger side airbags)
Since the part is $200 at the hyundai dealer, my question is: can the sensor be bypassed? ( I don't care if the airbags are deployed if no one is in the passenger seat!)

Hi there,

I would say no. and if this was tampered with you may find that your insurance may be voided as well, i would get it fixed properly.
