My cars transmission makes a clunk when slowing down, or stopping. I know it is downshifting, but it seems to not be sensing the speed of the vehicle, and downshifts too late, thusly makeing a thud sound.
No problem accelerating, just slowing down, and no problem at other speeds.
Sounds electrical to me, maybe the speed control. a local shop said to me, it sounds like a broken motor mount, but would not look at it. (No foreign cars)

It does sound like a bad motor or trans mount. Have that checked.
