The left front tire is worn on the inside almost to the belt. I bought the vehicle new in the spring of 2008. Should I have had to get the front end aligned? All the other tires are in great condition. Do I have a mechanical issue with the front end. The dealership said I should have had the front aligned and roatated the tires. Being a vehicle with only 22,000 miles on it I didn't think the tire should have worn like that. Should I get a second opinion from another dealership or mechanic?

One would hope that would be the case, but it isn't always. The alignment could have been bad from the factory. Keep in mind too that a good hard bump can do it. Also, tires should be rotated at aprox every 5000 miles. As far as the tire wear on the inside, it sounds like alignment. There are 3 adjustable points with alignment, caster, camber, tow. If you look straight at the front of the vehicle, the tow-in / out deals with the tires pointing the same direction. If the tow is bad, usually both front tires will wear on either the in or outside. Caster wouldn't have caused this. Camber is the other concern. It deals with the tilt of the tire in the fender. Picture the top of the tire leaning in or out. If it is leaning in at the top, the inside of the tire will wear.

Regardless, one would hope it wouldn't be needed, but it can.
