1998 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L 172,000 miles. The belt has slippped or is broken. I am trying to remove the pulley/harmonic balancer. Is this bolt right hand or left hand threads? Also, Is there any possibility the valves will not have any damage. The engine truns over but the camshafts are not turning. Thank you.

Should be right hand threads. You might find this to be the toughest part of the job. Seems like the best method is with an impact wrench. The engine is an interference type system so the chances are pretty good that something has been hit on the head. I would put the head and have it looked at. New head gasket is pretty cheap when you consider the scope of the project. Maintenance repair manual is a very good suggestion.
