key wont come out of ignition.....

i have a 97 tiburon that the key wonty come out of the ignition.. the only way it come out if u unplug the battery...why is it doing this????

There is a lock assembly in the switch that is failing. The solenoid to the switch stays energized and locks the key in place. I don't think that component by itself is replaceable but rather the entire ignition switch.
